Oak Hill Entertains Audiences During Production Of “Annie Jr.”

"The sun'll come out tomorrow" — at least that is the prevailing thought of Oak Hill Elementary students who put on their production of “Annie Jr.” in March. According to choreography director Deanna Ortiz, Oak Hill selected the musical in 2020, but the school was not able to share a complete production at that time because of COVID-19 shutdowns.

“We wanted to give it the second chance it deserved and create a better memory of the ‘Annie’ experience for years to come,” Ortiz said.

Students put a tremendous amount of time and effort into this year’s production, Ortiz said.

“When they stepped out onstage, faces beaming, it was evident they realized their hard work had contributed to something great,” Ortiz said. “That is something they should all feel proud of. Being witness to that is truly special.

“The students were so dedicated,” she continued. “I think it is safe to say they enjoyed every moment of it, but I’d imagine they especially enjoyed the friendships they cultivated and getting to perform onstage at school. I’ve had several students ask me recently if we can do another production before the end of the year because they miss it so much!”
