Folger McKinsey Takes Audiences On The Search For A Golden Ticket

Posted

Folger McKinsey’s young actors are bringing Ronald Dahl’s fantastical tale “Willy Wonka Jr.” to Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church from February 28-29.

Enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour with his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.

Karah Parks is directing the musical for Folger. The tech lead is Atticus Boidy. Together they have trained a talented cast that includes Lucy Davis as Willy Wonka, Ava McClure as Charlie Bucket, Josie Kamas as Annabelle Gloop, Piper Bowman as Veruca Salt, Lucy Caldwell as Violet Beauregard, and Anika Larson as Mikayla Teavee.

Showtimes are Friday, February 28, at 7:00pm, and Saturday, February 29, at 1:00pm and 7:00pm at Wood Memorial Presbyterian Church. Tickets can be purchased online at showtix4u.com from February 10 through February 27 for $9 by searching for “Willy Wonka.” They can also be purchased at the door for $10.
